I serve knitwear designers and publishers in the craft industry.
I examine patterns, and related documents, to find any of the following:
Mathematical, spelling, and grammatical errors
Missing information
Unclear instructions
Inconsistency in style
Also, I provide custom schematics, calculate yarn estimates, and offer grading assistance for children, accessory, and pet patterns.
I work remotely allowing me the opportunity to help designers and publishers around the world. Find my services at www.worksofourhands.com.
In 2022, I received my training in technical editing from The Tech Editor Hub. Following, I started Works of Our Hands, helping designers create correct, clear, and consistent documents.
Reliable documents that have been edited thoroughly help people successfully make items from start to finish without confusion or frustration. Documents of this quality build trust in designers and companies improving sales and brand reputation.
Receive Documents - Documents to be edited are collected as PDF or Word files.
Edit & Feedback - Documents are examined for any inaccurate, inconsistent, inaccessible, and unclear content. Spreadsheets, industry standard size charts, and client's style sheet and previously published works are tools used for reference. Feedback is given to client in annotations on documents and explained in email response.
Client Review - Client updates documents based on feedback. Updated documents are reviewed to verify changes are correct, not introducing new errors. Sometimes, this process takes more than one iteration.
Testing - Users make items as instructed in edited documents.
Pre-Publish Review - Documents are reviewed in final format and any changes double checked before publishing.
